Project Update :: Coaching & Officiating Review

Client :: Australian Sports Commission (@Ausport)

Project :: Coaching & Officiating Review

Objective :: The review will investigate, through consultation with NSOs and other parties, which aspects of the ASC’s current involvement in coaching and officiating development through the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) and National Officiating Accreditation Scheme (NOAS).

It has been nine years since the last comprehensive review of the NCAS and NOAS guidelines. A number of recommendations were made as a result of this review and most of them were actioned in full. The 2010 realignment of ASC operations has resulted in a change of strategic focus. One aspect is a greater emphasis on enhancing sport’s capacity to effectively deliver sport. The ASC’s newly named Workforce Development Support Section (WDS) is tasked with providing support and advice to grow sport through a sustainable workforce. Coaches and officials are a significant part of this workforce.

Over the last week Dangerous Minds conducted consultative workshops in Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney in conjunction with ASC staff. We will now complete an online survey, desktop audit and cross-industry review leading to the final report being submitted to the ASC in October.
